Professor Helena Bodin from Stockholm University, wrote those sentences about the Ottoman city of Constantinople, which nowadays is called Istanbul.
You have recently read a few excerpts written by the author Edmondo De Amicis in his non-fiction travelogue book “Constantinople”, written in 1887. How can you relate professor Bodin’s sentences with De Amicis’ description on how minorities are portrayed in Constantinople?

What protocols were implemented successfully, and which were unsuccessful?

You must use a reference, from outside if you wish, but different from the outside resource you chose.

In the introduction paragraph, explain your topic and introduce your thesis and topic. In the largest section of your paper, give a full analysis of the situation and present a strong argument about it. Mostly your personal interpretation is the key for this paper. In his chapter on “Victim Diasporas,” Cohen notes that unlike other “victim” diaspora groups like Jews, Irish, or Armenians, which were formed as the result of a single set of events, the African diaspora was created over several centuries as a result of the Atlantic Slave Trade, slavery, and the development of race as a social and political construct. In addition, unlike these other groups, the African Diaspora has a complicated conception of “homeland,” given the history of slavery and imperialism.
How has this complicated history informed the development of identity for individuals and groups in the African Diaspora? How has the diasporic experience(s) shaped relations with Africa, both as an idealized “homeland” and with modern-day African nations? Discuss at least two examples in your response.
