QUESTION 1
Assigned Readings:Chapter 13. Consumer Stakeholders: Information IssuesChapter 14. Consumer Stakeholders: Product and Service IssuesInitial Postings: Read and reflect on the assigned readings for the week. Then post what you thought was the most important concept(s), method(s), term(s), and/or any other thing that you felt was worthy of your understanding in each assigned textbook chapter.Your initial post should be based upon the assigned reading for the week, so the textbook should be a source listed in your reference section and cited within the body of the text. Other sources are not required but feel free to use them if they aid in your discussion. Also, provide a graduate-level response to each of the following questions:Research how Toyota handled complaints that it received from 2008-2010 regarding runaway acceleration problems. Compare Toyota’s response to Johnson & Johnson’s response to the Tylenol crisis. Based on this comparison, evaluate Toyota’s response. What did the company do right? What should it have done differently? How could a company that had been held out as an exemplar of product quality produce over 8 million vehicles with safety issues?
[Your post must be substantive and demonstrate insight gained from the course material. Postings must be in the student’s own words – do not provide quotes!] [Your initial post should be at least 450+ words and in APA format (including Times New Roman with font size 12 and double spaced). Problem Set #5
Jackson Corporation sources and distributes pharmaceutical products in the United States and internationally. Its pharmaceutical distribution segment distributes brand-name and generic pharmaceuticals, over-the-counter healthcare products, home healthcare supplies and equipment, outsourced compounded sterile preparations, and related services to various healthcare providers. The company wants to raise long-term debt of $10 million for research and development by issuing corporate bonds. The financial manager of the company, Chris Doughman, MBA is working with First Investment Bank to issue the bonds. The investment bank is providing consulting and advisory services to Jackson Corporation. Chris must make presentations to the investment banking firm to enable it to get the information needed to prepare the bond indenture.
Chris stated in the presentation that the bond would have 15 years to maturity, interest would be paid annually, and the bonds would have $1,000 par value. The coupon interest rate, according to Chris, would be determined using the following equation: rd= r* + IP + MRP + DRP + LP, where rd is quoted market interest rate, r* is real risk-free rate, IP is inflation premium, MRP is maturity risk premium, DRP is default risk premium, and LP is liquidity premium. Chris has gathered the following data:
Characteristic
Bond
Time to maturity
15 years
Real risk-free rate
2.00%
Inflation premium
2.20%
Maturity risk premium
2.50%
Default risk premium
2.40%
Liquidity premium
0.90%
1. Calculate the quoted market interest rate for the corporate bond using the equation.
2. Using the market interest rate calculated above, determine the coupon payment i.e., the dollar amount to be paid every year to bondholders.
3. First Investment Bank is using the answers presented in questions 1 and 2 to value the bond. Calculate the present value of the bond if the yield to maturity is 10%.
4. Suppose that three years later Jackson Corporation’s bonds have 12 years remaining to maturity. Interest is paid annually, the bonds have $1,000 par value, and the coupon interest rate is 8%. The bonds have a yield to maturity of 9%. Calculate the current market price of the bond.
5. Another company, Charter Corporation has issued 2,500 debentures with a face value of $1,000. The bonds have 10 years to maturity. The bonds have a coupon interest rate of 8% that is paid semiannually. What dollar amount of interest per bond can an investor expect to receive every 6 months?
6. Charter Corporation bonds have 10 years remaining to maturity. The bonds have a face value of $1,000 and a yield to maturity of 9%. The coupon rate is 8% that is paid semiannually.
i. Calculate the selling price of this debenture
ii. Calculate the current yield of this debenture.
7. Kahiki’s Foods Inc. corporate bonds have 10 years remaining to maturity. The bonds have a face value of $1,000, and a coupon rate of 10%. The company pays $100 interest per bond annually. The present value of the bond is $900. The bond is a callable bond. Calculate the yield to maturity of the bond (note: PV is negative because it is a cash outflow, i.e., it costs $900 to purchase the bond).
8. Some bondholders of Kahiki Foods do not understand the difference between yield to maturity and yield to call on callable bonds. Explain to them the difference between yield to maturity and yield to call.
9. Describe the following types of bonds:
i. debentures
ii. convertible bonds
iii. junk bonds
iv. callable bonds
10. Jackson’s corporate bonds are being reviewed by some credit rating agencies. Rating agencies do a good job of measuring the average credit risk of bonds and providing information to lenders whenever there is a significant change in credit quality of bonds. One of the credit rating agencies, Moody’s Investor Services has downgraded Jackson’s bonds rating from Aa to Baa. Identify three factors that might have contributed to the low ratings of Jackson’s bonds.

Conclusion to conclude, human activity is clearly causing the climate to change and, as a result, the planet is experiencing a number of negative effects.

Learning Goal: I’m working on a article writing writing question and need an explanation and answer to help me learn.
Your paragraphs have at least three supporting sentences and provide sufficient facts, examples or reasons to explain the supporting sentence. The paragraphs have unity. Causes and Effects of Climate Change Introduction The Earth’s climate has changed several times throughout history. According to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), there have been seven cycles of warming and cooling in the last 650,000 years. These earlier cycles occurred naturally as a result of changes in the atmosphere. In contrast, nearly all climate scientists agree that the climate changes we are seeing today are caused by human activities, especially and these activities are having serious negative effects on our planet. Conclusion To conclude, human activity is clearly causing the climate to change and, as a result, the planet is experiencing a number of negative effects. It is important that we reduce our negative impact on the planet as much as possible – for example, by using renewable energy instead of fossil fuels – before it is too late Read the introduction and conclusion of the cause and-effect essay below. Complete the introduction paragraph by writing two or three causes of climate change that you will discuss in your body paragraphs. Then, complete the essay by writing two body paragraphs: one about the human causes of climate change and another about the effects. Remember to list the two or three causes you mentioned in the introduction. For each paragraph: Use a suitable topic sentence Include supporting sentences that provide relevant details • Include facts, examples or reasons to explain each supporting sentence Ensure that the paragraph has unity

Describe how your findings from the relevant research literature can shape, inform, and improve current business and professional practice related to your chosen topic.

Learning Goal: I’m working on a article writing question and need an explanation and answer to help me learn.
Research Paper: This is a graduate course and students will be expected to research and write papers summarizing in their own words what they have found on current topics from the weekly readings. Research is a theoretical review of relevant literature and application of findings in the literature to a topic related to a specific industry, field, or business problem.
The research must be conducted using peer-reviewed trade or academic journals. While Blogs, Wikipedia, encyclopedias, course textbooks, popular magazines, newspaper articles, online websites, etc. are helpful for providing background information, these resources are NOT suitable resources for this research assignment.

Please Note: The UC Library staff are very helpful with assisting students in using the UC Online Library journal database. Please contact them if you have issues. In addition, the instructor has provided additional resources, including a research tutorial, in the “Course Resources” folder in the “Content” area of the course.
Assignment Requirements:
Choose a research topic from the chapter readings.
Research/find a minimum at least four (4), preferably five (5) or more, different peer-reviewed articles on your topic from the University of the Cumberlands Library online business database. The article(s) must be relevant and from a peer-reviewed source. While you may use relevant articles from any time frame, current/published within the last five (5) years are preferred. Using literature that is irrelevant or unrelated to the chosen topic will result in a point reduction.
Write a four (4) to five (5) page double spaced paper in APA format discussing the findings on your specific topic in your own words. Note – paper length does not include cover page, abstract, or references page(s).
Structure your paper as follows:Cover page
Overview describing the importance of the research topic to current business and professional practice in your own words.
Purpose of Research should reflect the potential benefit of the topic to the current business and professional practice and the larger body of research.
Review of the Literature summarized in your own words. Note that this should not be a “copy and paste” of literature content, nor should this section be substantially filled with direct quotes from the article. A literature review is a summary of the major points and findings of each of the selected articles (with appropriate citations). Direct quotations should be used sparingly. Normally, this will be the largest section of your paper (this is not a requirement; just a general observation).
Practical Application of the literature. Describe how your findings from the relevant research literature can shape, inform, and improve current business and professional practice related to your chosen topic.
Conclusion in your own words
References formatted according to APA style requirements
Grading Criteria:
Content Knowledge & Structure: All of the requested components are completed as assigned; content is on topic and related to advance human resource management, critical thinking is clearly demonstrated (few, if any, direct quotations from the source in the paper); scholarly research is demonstrated; topics and concepts gained from the assigned reading and/or from research is evident.
Critical Thinking: Demonstrates substantial critical thinking about topics and solid interpretation of materials and reflection.
Clarity & Effective Communication: Communication is clear, concise, and well presented; scholarly writing is demonstrated; grammar, sentence structure, writing in third person, and word choice is used correctly.
Integration of Knowledge & Articles: Articles used are current and relevant (preferably published within last five (5) years and MUST be from peer-reviewed journal article publications. At least four (4) peer-reviewed journal articles are examined and analyzed in the paper.
Presentation & Writing Mechanics: Cover page, headings, in-text citations, page citations (page number citations required for specific information such as dates, years, list of items from article, names, numbers, statistics, and other specific information), and references are properly formatted.
Please Note: Plagiarism will not be tolerated. The paper must be written in your own words.
